UP & RUNNING

A few things

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted something up on here. There have been few things that have made me look twice lately, but it still happens from time to time.

Supreme x Rosa Acosta Air Freshener via High Snobiety

Supreme is no stranger to collaborations with video vixens, and with Rosa being the video girl of the moment it makes sense. The photo shoot and accompanying video were as expected, but an air freshener? This is just funny, but not $39.50 funny.

A Love Letter For You by Stephen Powers via Slamxhype

Stephen Powers a.k.a. ESPO wrote my bible in high school, The Art of Getting Over. A living graffiti legend, I can’t help but to respect his work. Using very bold and simple imagery for over 50 murals, the different stages of a romance unfold all over Philly. I saw the first few paintings that went up at the beginning of the project and was stoked, so being able to see all the pieces in sequence is dope.

New Balance MT580 x Undftd x Stussy x Hectic via Slamxhype

Running (trail running nonetheless) shoe colorways are very difficult to execute in my eyes. There are three categories that they usually end up in - who cares, OG, or daaaaamn. I’d say 85% of them are in the “who cares” category, OG is there because most original make ups are the dope, but the few that sneak into that last group hit hard. Solid upper, white midsole, gum outsole and pop color lining, game over. This is first pair of New Balances I’ve dug for a long time. If NB keeps making shoes with gum soles, they might just steal my heart away from the Air Max family.

The Field House in Ballard, WA

When a store is put together as an entire concept instead of just stuff-in-a-space I appreciate it ten fold. I’ll gladly make the ten minute jaunt over to Ballard even though traveling East to West in Seattle is a nightmare. The press release sums it up perfectly (well, it’s supposed to right?):

“The Field House is reminiscent of general stores that were once at the heart of rural towns across America. Its shelves are stocked with a wide variety of merchandise, including classic work wear, vintage goods, basic groceries and candies, flowers, and perfumes and candles. It captures the history, geography, and folklore of times past, when goods were less disposable and had more meaning, a time when people canned their own food and took a moment to converse with strangers. It is perhaps Blackbird’s most personal store, as it is inspired by owner Nicole Miller’s eccentric Pacific Northwest family and her desire to get back to basics.”

Lacoste Wool Mannish Hat Collection via Hypebeast

I’m not a big fan of Lacoste, nor do I wear any hats in this style but what I do appreciate is that material. Just by looking at the picture I can feel the texture of the wool. Having a five-panel or snapback in this material would be dope beyond words. It just looks damn good and you know it will gain a lot of character as it gets worn in.

Short and sweet this week, I’ll be coming back with more soon.
